Practical Wisdom: When Change Digs Deep

Change has a curious way of working on us. It reshapes our experience of life, pulling at the roots of things we didn’t know were still tangled. Lately, I’ve been in that kind of change…the kind that stirs the hidden sediment of old emotion.
My beloved and I are building something together, a shared creation that feels meaningful and aligned with our purpose. The work is good. The vision is clear. And yet, as we move forward, we’re discovering that certain moments carry echoes of older experiences. Patterns we thought were settled have risen to life again, asking to be seen with fresh eyes.
It’s been uncomfortable. Disorienting at times. I’ve caught myself feeling a quiet ache that I couldn’t immediately trace. With breath and honesty, I'm beginning to realize some part of me I've tucked away needs tending. This tenderness is surfacing now as a signal that it’s time to do the work of healing.
Unfortunately, healing doesn’t always arrive wrapped in clarity. Sometimes it appears in the midst of progress, disguised as resistance or frustration. Sometimes love is what draws it out of hiding.
The beauty of this moment lies in our ability to recognize it. We’ve navigated this terrain before. There’s a language between Mask and me that’s unspoken but well-worn. It invites us to pause, reflect, and stay open. We don’t need to push through or pretend. We can witness one another with reverence and see our way past the harsh words and attitudes that sometimes erupt like volcanoes we’d assumed were dormant. That’s the grace of doing this work together over time: you build a foundation strong enough to hold the unexpected.
There’s something sacred about healing in real time, healing while in motion, in creation, in connection. It asks for presence. It asks for humility. And it offers intimacy in return. I’m grateful that we have each other to grow with. Grateful for the courage to keep turning toward what rises, even when it would be easier to look away.
The willingness to heal together strengthens our love.
If you’re experiencing change that feels heavier than it should, if something inside you is demanding attention, know this: the moment you become aware of it, healing is available. You don’t need to rush it. Just stay present. Stay honest. Keep choosing to love what you find.
There’s wisdom waiting in the discomfort, and often, that’s where the gold is buried.
